Official Bio

Joseph A. Russino is a Member of Technical Staff of the Artificial Intelligence Group, Planning and Execution Section, of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology.

Joseph has a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University with a focus on Robotics. He worked for several years at the National Robotics Engineering Center at Carnegie Mellon University where he worked on perception algorithms and performance analysis for robots and autonomous vehicles. He also has worked at Applied Minds, where he worked on a wide variety of sensor data processing and control projects.

At JPL, Joseph has worked on advanced scheduling and execution algorithms for the Self-Reliant Rovers task, and currently works on autonomy software prototyping for the Europa Lander project.
